Personalised Support
English support shaped around the student
No student learns the same way and not every student needs the same kind of support.
Personalised support at The Study Nook offers individual and small-group English teaching tailored to a student’s current needs, strengths and learning goals.
Support may focus on reading, writing, comprehension, analysis, assessment preparation or the development of stronger learning habits.
The aim of Personalised support is not to complete homework or assessments on behalf of students.
It is to help students understand how to approach the work themselves. This means making the thinking clearer, providing the right level of support, gradually helping students become more independent.
Who is Personalised Support for?
Personalised support is designed for students who would benefit from more targeted English teaching outside a structured program.
It may suit students who:
need support strengthening foundational reading or writing skills
are finding particular English concepts difficult such as paragraph structures, techniques, understanding themes, annotating texts or extended responses
need help preparing for assessments
would benefit from more explicit teaching and guided practice
are ready to extend their skills further
learn best in a more individual or small group environment
How does it work?
Personalised Support begins with understanding the student first.
Parents/carers are to complete a detailed enquiry form outlining their child’s current experience with English, areas of difficulty, learning goals and preferred support format.
From there, Antonina reviews the information provided and gets in touch with parents/carers to discuss the student’s needs and whether individual or small-group support is the best fit and the most suitable next step.
If Personalised Support is appropriate, sessions are then planned around the student’s current needs and the skills that will greatly support the direction of their learning.
The aim is not to simply help students complete the next task they are given from school, it is to help them become more capable of approaching future learning independently and confidently.
